Museum L-A: Our Working Waterway
“Our Working Waterway” is a fun and informative take for both children and adults on the history and health of our river. Presented by Museum L-A, and funded in part by the Maine Bicentennial Commission, come explore the history of the Androscoggin and its effects on the industrial development of many cities throughout Maine. From the generation of water power, to the passage of Edmund Muskie’s Clean Water Act, visitors will learn how the river has been used to develop manufacturing centers and how its once polluted waters have now been cleaned up.
Peter Rubins, chair of Grow L+A’s River Working Group, will be on hand at Museum L-A on Saturday, July 24 to provide more information to visitors about the Androscoggin, Senator Edmund S. Muskie’s legacy, saving the Androscoggin with the Clean Water Act of 1972, and the reclassification efforts.
